Not only have we already surpassed the historical record of teams paying in advance, but we are also breaking every pre-registration record in Europe and beyond, which means we are heading toward the biggest European Championship in FIMBA’s history, with an unprecedented international presence. As many of you know, at FIMBA we have always held ourselves to the highest standards, and we never stop striving to improve. We listen attentively to your suggestions, concerns and feedback, and we work tirelessly to ensure that your experience is better year after year. That is why I am pleased to announce that for this edition, all courts will have wooden flooring, all venues will have air conditioning, and several of the arenas selected are those used by the A1 Greek professional league, guaranteeing a level of quality worthy of our athletes. In addition, we have created a new area within FIMBA—the Office of the Sports Commissioner—responsible for ensuring that each court meets the full professional conditions our participants deserve: technical equipment, clocks, hydration, cleanliness, digital match sheets, and every operational detail required for a world-class event. I would also like to thank all the teams that have already pre-registered and reassure you that every team pre-registered until today will have its participation guaranteed. However, due to local circumstances and the fact that this year we will use only top-level courts, it is very likely that we will soon need to close registration in the most crowded categories. We want as many teams as possible to be part of this celebration, but for this edition we will not sacrifice quality for quantity. For that reason, I strongly encourage those who have not yet completed their pre-registration to do so as soon as possible, so that no one misses the opportunity to join us. wheelchair basketball tournament for the first time in the FIMBA championship's history Message from Savvas Anestiadis, President of the Athens 2026 Organizing Committee Dear friends: The Organizing Committee of the 13th FIMBA European Maxibasketball Championship Athens 2026 wishes to organize -for the first time in the championship's history- a parallel pilot wheelchair basketball tournament. In this endeavor, we are supported by the Federation of Greek Wheelchair Basketball Clubs (HWBF). The tournament will feature 8 teams, which is why we would like to invite those of you who have already confirmed your participation to contact us and let us know if you, or a team of friends, are interested in taking part. More details about the tournament will be available soon. We hope that we will not only manage to successfully organize it but also that it will become a permanent fixture. The wheelchair basketball tournament will be held from June 29 to July 5. There are no age restrictions, teams can be mixed (men and women), and the participation fee is €1,500 per team.
