HONORABLE DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL THE HDT RESOLUTIONS FOR THE 2026 FIMBA EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP IN ATHENS WILL BE PUBLISHED HERE ATHENS 2026 RESOLUTION – No. A June 1, 2026 WHEREAS: The Estonia F40+ Team has submitted a request informing that, due to the circumstances explained therein, it has been unable to meet the minimum regulatory requirement of eight (8) players necessary to participate in the Athens 2026 European Championship, and therefore seeks exceptional authorization to include two (2) players of Latvian nationality, whose country is not represented in that category; AND WHEREAS: The documentation submitted indicates that the two players whose inclusion is requested hold a nationality different from that of the remaining members of the team intending to represent Estonia in the competition. Article 19 of the FIMBA Championship Regulations expressly provides that any person wishing to represent a country other than that of his or her nationality must provide satisfactory proof of at least one (1) year of residence in the country he or she intends to represent. No evidence has been provided demonstrating compliance with this requirement by the players whose inclusion is requested. The applicable regulations do not provide for any exception to this requirement, and therefore this Tribunal lacks authority to depart from the express provisions of the Regulations. Juha Vettanen President Honorable Disciplinary Tribunal FIMBA FIMBA EUROPEAN MAXIBASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP – ATHENS 2026 DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE RESOLUTION No. 6A After reviewing the Official Scoresheet of the game between GREECE – EKA ATHENS and ITALY – FIMBA ITALIA (M45+), played on 30 June 2026, the Disciplinary Committee notes that player Franco Di Bella (#13, Italy – FIMBA Italia) received one Unsportsmanlike Foul and one Technical Foul, resulting in an automatic disqualification (GD). No separate referee’s report was submitted beyond the game report.  Accordingly, pursuant to the FIMBA Rules and Regulations: 1. The player Franco Di Bella is automatically suspended for one (1) game and is not eligible to participate in his team’s next scheduled game. 2. As the disqualification resulted exclusively from the combination of an Unsportsmanlike Foul and a Technical Foul, and there is no additional referee’s report, the suspension may be redeemed by payment of the applicable disciplinary fine. 3. The redemption fee is EUR 150, payable at the FIMBA Office before the player’s next game. Upon payment, the player shall be immediately eligible to participate. FIMBA Disciplinary Committee FIMBA EUROPEAN MAXIBASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP ATHENS 2026 DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE RESOLUTION No. 6 Having reviewed the formal complaint submitted by Croatia – Forful Zagreb regarding the eligibility of player No. 11 of Slovenia Zmaji Dragons (M55+), together with the evidence gathered during the investigation, WHEREAS: 1. The Disciplinary Committee has established that the player registered as Gianpaolo Zore is in fact Mario Bućan, from Split, Croatia, born in 1972, and therefore participated in the Championship under a false identity. 2. Such conduct constitutes a serious violation of the FIMBA Rules and Regulations and is subject to the sanctions established in Articles 55 and 57 of the FIMBA Penalty Code. 3. Article 55 provides for the player’s ejection from the tournament and suspension, while Article 57 establishes that a team using an ineligible player shall be sanctioned with the loss of all games played, expulsion from the Championship and the corresponding financial penalty. 4. Considering that the infringement was detected at the conclusion of the quarterfinal stage and that the semifinal schedule is imminent, the Disciplinary Committee considers it appropriate, as an exceptional measure to preserve the orderly continuation of the Championship, to apply the sporting consequences from the last game played, without altering the previous completed stages of the competition. THEREFORE, THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE RESOLVES: Article 1. To declare that player No. 11 registered as Gianpaolo Zore is in fact Mario Bućan and that he participated in the Championship under a false identity, in violation of the FIMBA Regulations. Article 2. To expel the player from the remainder of the Championship and refer the matter for the corresponding suspension under Article 55 of the FIMBA Penalty Code. Article 3. To expel Slovenia Zmaji Dragons (M55+) from the remainder of the Championship pursuant to Article 57 of the FIMBA Penalty Code. Article 4. As an exceptional measure, and in order to preserve the integrity and continuity of the competition, only the last game played by Slovenia Zmaji Dragons (M55+) shall be declared forfeited. The opposing team shall be declared the winner of that game and shall advance to the semifinal in place of Slovenia Zmaji Dragons (M55+). Article 5. Gayle (#9 – GB Wolfpack) was disqualified after receiving two technical fouls. The referee’s report states that the first technical foul was assessed for faking a foul, and the second technical foul for complaining about the referees’ decisions. According to the FIMBA Rules and Regulations, a player disqualified as a consequence of two technical fouls is automatically suspended for the next scheduled game, with the possibility of redeeming such suspension upon payment of the corresponding disciplinary fine. THEREFORE, THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE RESOLVES: 1. To impose the automatic suspension of one (1) game on player S. Gayle (#9 – GB Wolfpack). 2. HONORABLE FIMBA DISCIPLINARY BOARD RESOLUTION No. 12/2026 Buenos Aires, August 10, 2026 HAVING REGARD TO: Resolution No. 10/2026 issued by the Championship Disciplinary Board during the FIMBA European Maxibasketball Championship held in Athens, Greece, concerning an incident that occurred during the M60 game between FIMBA GB Cleveland and Italia Milano; the notification of said Resolution sent on July 3, 2026 by FIMBA's administrative area to the delegate of Italia Milano about the player No. 70; the subsequent communications between said delegate and members of the FIMBA team; the complaint subsequently submitted by the representative of Great Britain; and all records and background information submitted to this Honorable FIMBA Disciplinary Tribunal; AND CONSIDERING: 1. Resolution No. 10/2026 On July 3, 2026, the Disciplinary Committee of the FIMBA European Championship in Athens issued Resolution No. 10/2026 in connection with a racial incident that occurred during the M60 game between FIMBA GB Cleveland and Italia Milano on July 2, 2026. According to said Resolution, player No. 70 of Italia Milano directed a racially discriminatory expression toward an opposing player. After reviewing the available information and evidence, the Disciplinary Committee considered the incident established and expressly stated that racist or discriminatory language is fundamentally incompatible with the values of respect, inclusion, equality and fair play promoted by FIMBA. Accordingly, player No. 70 of Italia Milano was sanctioned with a one-game official suspension, to be effectively served and not redeemable through payment of a fine, and it was established that he would regain eligibility only after the suspension had been fully served. 2. The error in the notification of the Resolution Resolution No. 10/2026 was forwarded to FIMBA's administrative area for the corresponding notification. On July 3, 2026, FIMBA's administrative area sent an email to the delegate of Italia Milano containing the Resolution issued by the Disciplinary Committee. After the text of the Resolution, additional wording from an administrative template ordinarily used to communicate sanctions redeemable through payment of a fine was included in the same email. That wording stated that the suspension could be redeemed through payment of the corresponding fine and provided a link through which such payment could be made. This information did not form part of Resolution No. 10/2026 and was contrary to the express decision of the Disciplinary Committee, having been included as a consequence of an administrative error in the notification process. 3. The subsequent conduct of the Italian team Following receipt of this communication, the delegate of the Italian team expressly consulted FIMBA personnel as to whether making the indicated payment would make the player eligible to participate in the following game. The inquiry was referred to FIMBA's payment area, which was responsible for verifying payments relating to the redemption of sanctions. On the basis of the information contained in the administrative communication, it was mistakenly confirmed that, if payment was made, the player would be eligible to play. This response was communicated to the Italian delegate, who proceeded to make the payment, after which the player participated in the following games. The records therefore show that the Italian team did not unilaterally decide to disregard the sanction imposed, but expressly consulted FIMBA personnel and acted after receiving confirmation that payment would make the player eligible to participate. 4. The intervention of the Tribunal during the Championship The representative of Great Britain subsequently informed FIMBA that the sanctioned player had participated in the following game. The matter was brought to the attention of the Championship Disciplinary Board, which stated that, under the applicable procedure, in order to intervene regarding the player's participation, the corresponding complaint had to be submitted through the channels established by the regulations and the applicable fee had to be paid. As no such formal complaint was submitted, the Championship Disciplinary Committee did not intervene at that time regarding the player's participation. As a consequence, the player also participated in the subsequent game, which led to a further complaint from the representative of Great Britain. Following the conclusion of the Championship, the matter was ultimately submitted for consideration by this Honorable FIMBA Disciplinary Board. 5. The need to resolve the matter Although the complaint required under the applicable regulations was not formally submitted during the Championship, this Honorable Tribunal considers it necessary to examine what occurred in order to provide a definitive resolution of the matter. The Italian team must be considered to have acted in good faith, since it expressly consulted FIMBA personnel and only proceeded with the payment and subsequent participation of the player after receiving confirmation that he was eligible to play. Accordingly, no sanction should be imposed upon Italia Milano, nor should any sporting consequences arise from the player's participation in the subsequent games. The amount paid as a consequence of the erroneous information provided by FIMBA must also be refunded. The one-game official suspension imposed by Resolution No. 10/2026 was not served and must therefore be served in the next official FIMBA game in which the player seeks to participate. 6. Racist or discriminatory conduct The circumstances examined demonstrate the need to establish within FIMBA's disciplinary regulations a specific and independent provision governing racist or discriminatory conduct. The particular seriousness of this type of conduct requires rules that allow sanctions to be appropriately determined according to the nature and severity of each incident. Accordingly, the FIMBA Academy should be requested to incorporate into the regulations a specific provision establishing that racist or discriminatory conduct may be sanctioned, depending on the seriousness of the incident, up to the expulsion from the tournament. Such provision should further establish that any sanction imposed during a Championship for racist or discriminatory conduct must, following the conclusion of the competition, be reported to the Honorable FIMBA Disciplinary Tribunal so that it may assess the incident and determine whether, in view of its seriousness, an additional or more severe sanction should be imposed. FOR THESE REASONS, THE HONORABLE FIMBA DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL HEREBY RESOLVES: 1. TO ACKNOWLEDGE that, as a consequence of an administrative error in the notification of Resolution No. 10/2026, the delegate of Italia Milano was incorrectly informed that the sanction imposed upon player No. 70 could be redeemed through payment of a fine, despite the Resolution expressly providing that the suspension was to be effectively served and was not redeemable. 2. TO DETERMINE that no sanction shall be imposed upon Italia Milano, nor shall any sporting consequences arise from the player's subsequent participation, since the team acted in good faith, expressly consulted FIMBA personnel regarding the player's eligibility and only fielded the player after receiving an affirmative response. 3. TO ORDER the refund to Italia Milano of the amount paid for the purported redemption of the sanction. 4. TO DECLARE that the one-game official suspension imposed upon player No. 70 of Italia Milano by Resolution No. 10/2026 has not been served. 5. TO ORDER, accordingly, that player No. 70 of Italia Milano serve the outstanding suspension in the next official FIMBA game in which he seeks to participate, and that said suspension may not be redeemed through payment of a fine. 6. TO REQUEST that the FIMBA Academy incorporate into FIMBA's disciplinary regulations a specific and independent provision governing racist or discriminatory conduct, establishing that such conduct may be sanctioned, according to the seriousness of the incident, up to the expulsion from the tournament. Such provision shall also establish that any sanction imposed during a Championship for racist or discriminatory conduct must, following the conclusion of the competition, be reported to the Honorable FIMBA Disciplinary Tribunal so that it may assess the incident and determine whether, in view of its seriousness, an additional or more severe sanction should be imposed. 7. The registration fee for each assistant will be €100.00 They will receive the same benefits as players, except that they will not be allowed to play.
