As many of you know, at FIMBA we have always held ourselves to the highest standards, and we never stop striving to improve. We listen attentively to your suggestions, concerns and feedback, and we work tirelessly to ensure that your experience is better year after year. That is why I am pleased to announce that for this edition, all courts will have wooden flooring, all venues will have air conditioning, and several of the arenas selected are those used by the A1 Greek professional league, guaranteeing a level of quality worthy of our athletes. In addition, we have created a new area within FIMBA—the Office of the Sports Commissioner—responsible for ensuring that each court meets the full professional conditions our participants deserve: technical equipment, clocks, hydration, cleanliness, digital match sheets, and every operational detail required for a world-class event. I would also like to thank all the teams that have already pre-registered and reassure you that every team pre-registered until today will have its participation guaranteed. However, due to local circumstances and the fact that this year we will use only top-level courts, it is very likely that we will soon need to close registration in the most crowded categories. We want as many teams as possible to be part of this celebration, but for this edition we will not sacrifice quality for quantity. For that reason, I strongly encourage those who have not yet completed their pre-registration to do so as soon as possible, so that no one misses the opportunity to join us. Location: Ano Liosia, Athens, Greece (Konstantinoupoleos 59). Home of ΑΕΚ BC: Since 2020, the arena has been the official home court for AEK Betsson B.C., one of Greece's most historic and successful basketball clubs. History & Significance Inauguration: The facility was officially opened on September 20, 2006, by the then Mayor of Vyronas, Nikos Hardalias. It serves as the primary training ground and home court for their men's and women's teams (which compete in local and national leagues), as well as all their youth academy departments. Administration & Naming: The facility is owned by the Municipality of Kifissia and managed by the Municipal Organization of Culture & Sports "Dimitrios Vikelas". They have very limited, basic seating (holding just a few hundred people at most), as they were designed for athletic preparation and grassroots sports rather than large spectator events. Daily Usage & Significance: While the main OAKA arena gets the Euroleague and international spotlight, these training halls are the true, everyday "workhorses" of the Olympic complex. They are heavily utilized for: Wheelchair Basketball: They frequently host official top-tier (A1) wheelchair basketball games, famously serving as the home court for teams like Panathinaikos AMEA. National Teams: They are regularly used as the main training camps for Greece's youth and women's national basketball teams. Local Significance: The stadium is named after Georgios Gennimatas, who was a significant figure in Greek politics and known for his contributions to education and social welfare. It serves as a community gathering point, promoting sports and physical activity among residents. Clubs: Several local football teams utilize the stadium for their home matches, fostering talent at the grassroots level.
