ATHENS 2026 RESOLUTION – No. A
June 1, 2026
WHEREAS:
The Estonia F40+ Team has submitted a request informing that, due to the circumstances explained therein, it has been unable to meet the minimum regulatory requirement of eight (8) players necessary to participate in the Athens 2026 European Championship, and therefore seeks exceptional authorization to include two (2) players of Latvian nationality, whose country is not represented in that category;
AND WHEREAS:
The documentation submitted indicates that the two players whose inclusion is requested hold a nationality different from that of the remaining members of the team intending to represent Estonia in the competition.
Article 19 of the FIMBA Championship Regulations expressly provides that any person wishing to represent a country other than that of his or her nationality must provide satisfactory proof of at least one (1) year of residence in the country he or she intends to represent.
No evidence has been provided demonstrating compliance with this requirement by the players whose inclusion is requested.
The applicable regulations do not provide for any exception to this requirement, and therefore this Tribunal lacks authority to depart from the express provisions of the Regulations.
Accordingly, the request submitted must be denied.
THEREFORE,
THE HONORABLE FIMBA DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL
RESOLVES:
Article 1. To deny the request submitted by the Estonia F40+ Team to include two (2) players of Latvian nationality for participation in the Athens 2026 European Championship.
Article 2. To inform the interested parties that, should they so wish, they may participate pursuant to Article 10 bis of the FIMBA Championship Regulations by joining a FIMBA Team. In such capacity, they may take part in the scheduled games but shall not be eligible to compete for final standings, championships, rankings, or medals.
Article 3. To notify the interested parties and, thereafter, to file these proceedings.

HONORABLE DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL DECISION No. 001/2026
Date: June 28, 2026
Having reviewed the Official Referees' Report corresponding to the M55+ match between FIMBA Italy and Switzerland, played on June 28, 2026, at OAKA 3;
WHEREAS: According to the referees' report, player No. 55 of FIMBA Italy received an Unsportsmanlike Foul, followed immediately by a Technical Foul, resulting in an automatic disqualifying sanction under the FIMBA Competition and Disciplinary Regulations.
THE DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL RESOLVES:
Article 1. To impose on Player No. 55 of FIMBA Italy an automatic suspension of one (1) game, to be served in the team's next scheduled match.
Article 2. In accordance with the FIMBA Disciplinary Regulations, this automatic suspension may be redeemed by payment of the corresponding fine, on one occasion only during the tournament.
Article 3. Should the player wish to exercise this right, payment must be completed before the start of the team's next scheduled game through the following payment link:

DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL – RESOLUTION No. 02/2026
WHEREAS:
The referee’s report regarding the game played between Serbia – Sirmium Gladiators and Greece – S.P.A.K. Peiraia, in the M50+ category, on June 28, 2026, which indicates that player No. 0 of the Greece – S.P.A.K. Peiraia was disqualified from the match after receiving two technical fouls for unsportsmanlike conduct.
AND CONSIDERING:
That FIMBA’s disciplinary regulations provide for an automatic one (1) game suspension for players disqualified for this reason.
That, furthermore, the Code of Penalties provides for the possibility of redeeming such a suspension by paying the corresponding fine.
THE DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL RESOLVES:
Article 1: To automatically suspend player No. 0 of the Greece – S.P.A.K. Peiraia team for one (1) game; he shall not be permitted to participate in his team’s next official match.
Article 2: To authorize the redemption of the suspension through payment of the fine provided for in the FIMBA Code of Penalties, equivalent to USD 150, which must be paid at the FIMBA office before the start of his team’s next match.
Article 3: Notify the tournament organizers, the team involved, and the Technical Commission. Done; file.

DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE – RESOLUTION No. 3/2026
WHEREAS:
The referee’s report for the game played between GB – GB Maxibasketball and Croatia – Forful Zagreb, M55+ category, on June 28, 2026, which indicates that player No. 77 of the Croatia team – Forful Zagreb was disqualified after receiving two technical fouls and that, furthermore, the referee reported that the player repeatedly hurled insults and offensive remarks at the officiating crew.
AND CONSIDERING:
That the player’s disqualification was not solely due to the accumulation of two technical fouls, but was aggravated by the offensive and disrespectful conduct described in the referee’s report.
That the insults directed at the referees constitute a separate disciplinary offense that goes beyond the cases of automatic suspension redeemable through the payment of a fine.
That, consequently, it is appropriate to order the effective enforcement of the automatic suspension provided for in FIMBA’s disciplinary regulations.
THE DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL RESOLVES:
Article 1: To suspend player No. 77 of the Croatia – Forful Zagreb team for one (1) game; the player must serve this suspension in full and, therefore, may not participate in his team’s next official match.
Article 2: It is hereby established that this suspension cannot be commuted by the payment of a fine, in light of the arbitration report documenting insults and offensive remarks directed at the refereeing crew.
Article 3: Notify the tournament organizers, the team involved, and the Technical Commission. Done; file.

DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL
RESOLUTION No. 4/2026
WHEREAS:
The official score sheet for the game played between GREECE-MME and LATVIA in the M45+ category of the 2026 FIMBA European Championship in Athens, which shows that player K. Vellis (ID 291), No. 4, of the GREECE-MME team, was disqualified after receiving an unsportsmanlike foul and subsequently a technical foul.
AND CONSIDERING:
That FIMBA regulations establish an automatic one (1) game suspension for a player disqualified due to the accumulation of an unsportsmanlike foul and a technical foul.
That, since this disqualification falls within the cases provided for by the Code of Penalties, the suspension may be waived upon payment of the corresponding fine, provided that the player has not previously availed himself of this benefit.
THE DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL RESOLVES:
Article 1: To suspend player K. Vellis (ID 291) of the GREECE-MME team for one (1) game; he may not participate in his team’s next official match.
Article 2: To note that the suspension may be redeemed by paying the sum of USD 150 (one hundred fifty U.S. dollars), in accordance with the FIMBA Code of Penalties, provided that the player has not previously availed himself of this benefit.

DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL
RESOLUTION No. 5/2026
WHEREAS:
Player Tadeusz Kowalczyk (FIMBA ID 15101), representing Poland, was disqualified during the game between Poland and Italy – Maxi Basket Milano, played on June 28, 2026, as part of the FIMBA European Maxibasketball Championship – Athens 2026.
CONSIDERING:
That, according to the referee’s report, the player addressed an opponent by saying “fuck you” while simultaneously making an obscene gesture by showing his middle finger.
That such conduct constitutes insulting and offensive behavior toward an opponent and resulted in a disqualification accompanied by a referee’s report.
That, pursuant to the FIMBA Rules and Regulations and the FIMBA Penalty Code, this offense carries an automatic suspension of one (1) game and is not eligible for redemption by payment of a fine.
THEREFORE, THE DISCIPLINARY TRIBUNAL RESOLVES:
Article 1. To suspend Tadeusz Kowalczyk (FIMBA ID 15101) for one (1) official game, rendering him ineligible to participate in Poland’s next scheduled game.
Article 2. To establish that this suspension is not redeemable by payment of a fine, as it results from a disqualification accompanied by a referee’s report for insulting and offensive conduct toward an opponent.

DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE
RESOLUTION No. 6A
After reviewing the Official Scoresheet of the game between GREECE – EKA ATHENS and ITALY – FIMBA ITALIA (M45+), played on 30 June 2026, the Disciplinary Committee notes that player Franco Di Bella (#13, Italy – FIMBA Italia) received one Unsportsmanlike Foul and one Technical Foul, resulting in an automatic disqualification (GD). No separate referee’s report was submitted beyond the game report. 
Accordingly, pursuant to the FIMBA Rules and Regulations:
1. The player Franco Di Bella is automatically suspended for one (1) game and is not eligible to participate in his team’s next scheduled game.
2. As the disqualification resulted exclusively from the combination of an Unsportsmanlike Foul and a Technical Foul, and there is no additional referee’s report, the suspension may be redeemed by payment of the applicable disciplinary fine.
3. The redemption fee is EUR 150, payable at the FIMBA Office before the player’s next game. Upon payment, the player shall be immediately eligible to participate.

DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE
RESOLUTION No. 6
Having reviewed the formal complaint submitted by Croatia – Forful Zagreb regarding the eligibility of player No. 11 of Slovenia Zmaji Dragons (M55+), together with the evidence gathered during the investigation,
WHEREAS:
1. The Disciplinary Committee has established that the player registered as Gianpaolo Zore is in fact Mario Bućan, from Split, Croatia, born in 1972, and therefore participated in the Championship under a false identity.
2. Such conduct constitutes a serious violation of the FIMBA Rules and Regulations and is subject to the sanctions established in Articles 55 and 57 of the FIMBA Penalty Code.
3. Article 55 provides for the player’s ejection from the tournament and suspension, while Article 57 establishes that a team using an ineligible player shall be sanctioned with the loss of all games played, expulsion from the Championship and the corresponding financial penalty.
4. Considering that the infringement was detected at the conclusion of the quarterfinal stage and that the semifinal schedule is imminent, the Disciplinary Committee considers it appropriate, as an exceptional measure to preserve the orderly continuation of the Championship, to apply the sporting consequences from the last game played, without altering the previous completed stages of the competition.
THEREFORE, THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE RESOLVES:
Article 1. To declare that player No. 11 registered as Gianpaolo Zore is in fact Mario Bućan and that he participated in the Championship under a false identity, in violation of the FIMBA Regulations.
Article 2. To expel the player from the remainder of the Championship and refer the matter for the corresponding suspension under Article 55 of the FIMBA Penalty Code.
Article 3. To expel Slovenia Zmaji Dragons (M55+) from the remainder of the Championship pursuant to Article 57 of the FIMBA Penalty Code.
Article 4. As an exceptional measure, and in order to preserve the integrity and continuity of the competition, only the last game played by Slovenia Zmaji Dragons (M55+) shall be declared forfeited. The opposing team shall be declared the winner of that game and shall advance to the semifinal in place of Slovenia Zmaji Dragons (M55+).
Article 5. The Competition Committee shall amend the official bracket and standings accordingly. This Resolution shall take effect immediately.

DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE
Resolution No. 8/2026
WHEREAS:
During the game between GB Wolfpack and Greece – EKA Athens 40 (M40+), played on 2 July 2026, player S. Gayle (#9 – GB Wolfpack) was disqualified after receiving two technical fouls. The referee’s report states that the first technical foul was assessed for faking a foul, and the second technical foul for complaining about the referees’ decisions.
According to the FIMBA Rules and Regulations, a player disqualified as a consequence of two technical fouls is automatically suspended for the next scheduled game, with the possibility of redeeming such suspension upon payment of the corresponding disciplinary fine.
THEREFORE, THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE RESOLVES:
1. To impose the automatic suspension of one (1) game on player S. Gayle (#9 – GB Wolfpack).
2. The player may redeem this suspension by paying the disciplinary fine of USD 150 at the FIMBA Office before the next scheduled game, in accordance with the FIMBA Penalty Code.
3. If the fine is duly paid, the player shall be eligible to participate in the next scheduled game.

During the game between Italy – Italia Basket Over and Poland (M45+), played on 1 July 2026, player F. Guarino (#4 – Italia Basket Over) was disqualified after receiving two technical fouls. The referee’s report states that both technical fouls were assessed for behaviour, and that the player left the court during the fourth quarter.
According to the FIMBA Rules and Regulations, a player disqualified as a consequence of two technical fouls is automatically suspended for the next scheduled game, with the possibility of redeeming such suspension upon payment of the corresponding disciplinary fine.
THEREFORE, THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE RESOLVES:
