Originally constructed as the Ano Liosia Olympic Hall to host judo and wrestling events during the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics, the SUNEL Arena has since evolved into one of Greece's premier sports and entertainment venues. Ilissia Municipal Indoor Hall "Antonis Fotsis"
Location: Ilissia (Zografou Municipality), Athens. Capacity: Approximately 1,500 spectators. Name Origin: The historic "Ilissia Indoor Hall" was officially renamed to "Antonis Fotsis" in June 2018. The Municipality of Zografou made this decision to honor the great Greek international basketball player, widely known as "Batman." Fotsis began his professional career at Ilysiakos and returned to the team in 2017 to play for them even in the lower divisions. History & Teams: Operating since the 1980s (Ilysiakos moved there in 1983), it is the traditional home of Ilysiakos A.O., hosting both its basketball and volleyball departments. It is considered one of the most classic and "warm" basketball venues in Athens.

After 2004, the Olympic Village was converted into a massive public housing neighborhood, and the indoor hall was handed over to serve as the primary athletic center for the new local community. Home Teams & Usage: The arena is a multi-sport facility primarily used for basketball, volleyball, and futsal. It is the traditional home for local neighborhood sports clubs like A.S. Olympiakou Xoriou and F.O.A. (Foinikas Olympiakou Xoriou). Recent Developments: In recent years, the stadium's profile was elevated when it became the official home court for the AEK Women's Volleyball team, hosting top-tier Greek Volley League matches. It is also regularly used by AEK's futsal department for training, alongside countless local youth basketball games for the Athens basketball association (ESKA).

Facilities & Capacity: Known primarily as Training Hall 1 and Training Hall 2 (Προπονητήριο 1 & 2), these are highly functional auxiliary courts. They have very limited, basic seating (holding just a few hundred people at most), as they were designed for athletic preparation and grassroots sports rather than large spectator events. Daily Usage & Significance: While the main OAKA arena gets the Euroleague and international spotlight, these training halls are the true, everyday "workhorses" of the Olympic complex. They are heavily utilized for: Wheelchair Basketball: They frequently host official top-tier (A1) wheelchair basketball games, famously serving as the home court for teams like Panathinaikos AMEA. National Teams: They are regularly used as the main training camps for Greece's youth and women's national basketball teams. Amateur Leagues: They are a major hub for the city's amateur and corporate basketball leagues (such as the popular "Basketaki" league). The 1st Indoor Gymnasium of Ilioupoli is one of the most significant sports venues in the Municipality of Ilioupoli, serving as a hub for local athletics and professional matches. Naming & History The Name: In December 2022, the gymnasium was officially named after the local Paralympic swimming champion, Giannis Kostakis. The decision by the Municipal Council was unanimous, aiming to honor his athletic achievements and his contribution to the community. Usage: It serves as the home base for several local sports clubs and has gained broader recognition as the home court for the Olympiacos Men's Handball team since the 2022/23 season. Facilities & Technical Specifications Capacity: The arena can accommodate approximately 1,500 spectators. Indoor Features: A main multi-purpose court with a high-quality wooden floor (parquet). Two general exercise rooms. A dedicated gymnastics hall. A weightlifting and strength training room. Four locker rooms and a snack bar (canteen). Type of Facility: It is a modern, state-of-the-art air dome structure (commonly referred to in Greek sports as a "μπαλόνι" or balloon). Facilities: The structure houses two full-sized indoor basketball courts alongside a fully equipped, dedicated locker room building. Because it is a specialized training center ("προπονητήριο"), it does not feature large spectator stands; instead, it is entirely optimized for athletic development and daily practice. Usage & Significance: Completed very recently (in late 2024), this facility solved a long-standing historical need for the club. It is the permanent home for the AEK BC Academy, hosting the daily practices, development camps, and youth tournaments for the club's junior and youth teams. Furthermore, it serves as an excellent auxiliary training court for the professional AEK Betsson B.C. first team. The "Campus" Vision: The creation of this training facility right next to the SUNEL Arena is a massive milestone for AEK's basketball department. Location: Zofria, Ano Liosia (Municipality of Fyli), West Athens, Greece Fisrt opened: 1998 and it is an indoor multi-sport arena with parquet (wooden floor). The capacity it is approximately 3,000 spectators (around 1,300 permanent seats) Use and functions The arena is mainly used for Basketball games, Volleyball matches and other indoor sports and local sporting events. It has served as a home or occasional venue for Greek sports clubs, including AEK Athens BC during earlier periods.
