Message from Savvas Anestiadis, President of the Athens 2026 Organizing Committee
Dear friends:
The Organizing Committee of the 13th FIMBA European Maxibasketball Championship Athens 2026 wishes to organize -for the first time in the championship's history- a parallel pilot wheelchair basketball tournament.
In this endeavor, we are supported by the Federation of Greek Wheelchair Basketball Clubs (HWBF).
The tournament will feature 8 teams, which is why we would like to invite those of you who have already confirmed your participation to contact us and let us know if you, or a team of friends, are interested in taking part.
More details about the tournament will be available soon.
We hope that we will not only manage to successfully organize it but also that it will become a permanent fixture.
The wheelchair basketball tournament will be held from June 29 to July 5. There are no age restrictions, teams can be mixed (men and women), and the participation fee is €1,500 per team. The accommodation terms are the same as those for our main tournament.
With the hope that we will succeed in including wheelchair basketball in our celebration, we invite you to participate with your utmost enthusiasm.
